"Nature is not a place to visit. It is home."
Gary Snyder, Poet and Environmentalist
Tucked away from the hectic metropolis, amidst the Swiss Alps, just 15 minutes from Chur, lies Kurhaus Praden, a house with over 120 years of history. Perched in the mountains, surrounded by dense forests, rolling meadows, and the soothing sounds of mountain streams, it has long been a place of retreat, renewal, and quiet connection with nature.

In its early days, Kurhaus Praden was more than just a guesthouse—it was a sanctuary for healing. Doctors all over Europe would send patients here, believing that the pure Alpine air, the highly mineralized waters and peaceful surroundings could aid in the recovery from severe illnesses such as tuberculosis and other chronic conditions.

The region around the Kurhaus is known for its Sulfur-rich mineral spring water. It contains hydrogen sulfide, a powerful therapeutic agent used in balneology to treat skin, respiratory, and musculoskeletal disorders through its potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. It promotes wound healing, relieves joint pain, and improves skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne by acting as an antiseptic and facilitating cellular repair. Those seeking rest, especially people battling terminal conditions, found solace in the crisp mountain breeze, the stillness of the forests, and the warmth of the house itself.

Over time, the Kurhaus evolved, welcoming travelers, adventurers, and groups longing for a break from the noise of daily life. While its rustic character has been lovingly preserved, modern comforts have been carefully woven into its charm. Cozy rooms, a library filled with stories, a communal yoga space, and a sauna and a hot tub under the stars now offer guests a space to unwind, reconnect, and recharge.

Whether hosting a retreat, gathering with loved ones, or simply escaping to the mountains, Kurhaus Praden remains a place of restoration—where time slows down, nature heals, and life feels a little lighter.
